ASHFIELD RETAIN WORKINGTON SCHOOLS TENNIS TITLE

A vibrant and exciting Lakes College saw Ashfield School retain the Workington Schools year 3 and 4 Tennis title they won last year beating an excellent Seaton team in the final with some scintillating play.

An excellent turnout of all 11 Primary Schools in the Workington area boasting 44 players produced a full three hours of amazing skills, competitive play and great sportsmanship all Umpired by St Joseph’s School year 8 Tennis Leaders.
The leaders completed their Lawn Tennis Association “Tennis Leaders” course at the weekend and St Joseph’s Sports Development Officer couldn’t have been any prouder; “We had exactly 108 matches played out today and the leaders were fantastic”. “Umpiring requires many skills such as focus, decision making and good communication and our leaders had it all in abundance”. “Ii was so good to see so many children having such a great time and having such good role models will hopefully help the youngsters to want to such a job in the future themselves”.
Ashfield have now qualified for the Allerdale finals on the 17th of April.
