Wimbledon Fever Hits Workington as Seaton & St Michael’s Battle it Out

After 4 weeks of coaching Seaton Academy hosted St Michael’s Infants in a Mini Tennis challenge match to coincide with Wimbledon fortnight.

Run by Sports Development Officer from St Joseph’s David Wise and with two teams of 4 taking part it was an incredibly exciting and close affair with Seaton just pipping St Michael’s 9-7 in the best of 16 match event.

Commenting on the level of play and exciting action David said; “It was such a close run thing with almost every match being decided by a couple of points here and there”. “Each player started nervously but really grew in stature and they all produced some incredible rallies throughout their matches”. “Each match was timed and they all played each other and all went back to their lessons with huge smiles on their faces”.
“This is something we are really looking at for the future development of Sport in Schools and I am already looking forward to next year’s return fixture”.
