Friday 19th May: Positive Thoughts

The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Scripture

‘For as he thinks within himself, so he is.’ Proverbs 23:7

What we think about, we talk about and what we talk about we bring about as this dialogue between an optimist and pessimist illustrates – in the end a way across is found.

Suppose that each of us had had a recording device to record our thoughts for a whole day. What would we hear when we played it back? Would our thoughts be negative, discouraging, putting others or ourselves down? Or would our thoughts be positive, appreciative and hopeful about others, ourselves and our world?

Positive thoughts bring positive things. When we think in terms of the positiveness of life, we see the positive, and a positive outlook comes to be part of our lives.

Bible Reflection

For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honourable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things fix your minds on them.

-St. Paul to the Philippians 4:4-8

Prayer

Lord Jesus, One of your saints said ‘be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire!’ Help me to be all I can be, all you created to be. Grant me hope and strength to do my best, to avoid temptations, to surpass all expectations, to achieve what now may seem ‘impossible’

Amen

Our Lady Queen of Peace pray for us.
