Reflection

The following are some thoughts written by Mark Condron, a previous Head Teacher here at St. Joseph’s. May he rest in peace.

Life is a process of becoming the fullest self as God created us. Irenaeus, who professed that “The glory of God is man fully alive,” may have had this in mind.For it is within us all to rise above the limitations of our own perceived inadequacy to a height of excellence.

As your teachers, it is our mission to create those environments where you can recognise your own giftedness. And then hold you as we search for ways of moving together to make this giftedness a reality.

We say move together, because the Kingdom is only in process and to have perfection is not within the nature of you or me. Recognition of giftedness takes many forms and is not achieved without the paradoxical balance between the joy of the goal and the pain of the road.

…be brave, for the journey you are on is the journey to the Kingdom.

Prayer by St Irenaeus

It is not you that shapes God
it is God that shapes you.
If you are the work of God
await the hand of the artist
who does all things in due season.
Offer Him your heart,
soft and tractable,
and keep the form
in which the artist has fashioned you.
Let your clay be moist,
lest you grow hard
and lose the imprint of his fingers.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name;
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Amen.

Our Lady Queen of Peace pray for us.
St Joseph pray for us

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
