Wednesday 14th September: The Pope’s Message to You

The theme of this school week is: Being a Catholic School

The Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Reflection

These are the word of Pope Benedict to the young people of the United Kingdom when he visited in 2010. There are just ask relevant to us today in 2016, as he was particularly addressing students of Catholic schools.

You might just want to choose a few minutes of this rather than the whole clip.

What are the qualities in others that you would just like to have yourself?

What kind of person would you really like to be?

Are you content to be second best?

Prayer

Lord, there are many excellent things to aim for in life: friendship, love, skill, knowledge, understanding, an enjoyable job. At the foundation of all these things, making each of them even better, is the most challenging but worthwhile venture – to be good or holy. Give us your help, always, to try to be good people. Amen

We turn to Mary, Mother of Jesus, asking her to pray for us:

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Amen.

Our Lady Queen of Peace, pray for us

St Joseph, pray for us.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
